Maintaining an ideal weight is a common struggle for most Americans. I was such a skinny kid, that I never thought I would ever have to think about dieting. But when we get older, our metabolism naturally slows down, and it's very easy to pack on a few extra pounds now and then.
I really like exercising. Things like swimming, taking Cameron for rides on the bicycle, and running are all things I enjoy. But, it is not always easy to find the time to do all of this when my first priority is my family (and then there is always mowing the grass - but I guess that counts as exercise too!)
My only advice for anyone out there that is struggling with weight issues, is to find an activity that they enjoy doing. At first, walking is a great way to get in shape. Then, you might feel more comfortable doing a little bit more rigorous activities. Keep in mind, that before you start any type of diet or exercise regimen, you should first check with your doctor to see what he or she recommends. Overall, when you exercise, you feel better, which often leads to looking better. Then, you're more likely to stick with your healthy new lifestyle. Plus, you just might also motivate others to get healthy!
